KM-CODEX Desktop

July 27th, 2010

The KM-CODEX Desktop is an Adobe AIR desktop application that allows users to take part in this website and contribute their thoughts, ask questions and do other things like post video tutorials for all users to enjoy. This user based system supports a dedicated Guest account so all users can see the system in action before deciding to register. All new users can register as a member right from the application and it will email you a password (which you can change later). Some features of the system are only available to registered users so be sure to register to fully take part! This system contains no advertisements, spyware or other trickery and is offered in good faith to all our Flex, AIR and Koolmoves friends to take part in. I hope to see you all in the system and feel free to drop me a line if you need to!

The KM-CODEX Desktop comes in two versions. The Power Windows version supports Flash Videos (FLV) so if you want to view others videos or post your own videos, be sure to use that version! There are screenshots below of both versions along with a description of some of the features. You can download the Desktop app using the sidebar installers in my home page here or you can download both from the Adobe AIR Showcase at the Adobe website.

Some of the features of the KM-CODEX Desktop are:

ABCms Post Authoring – This posting system uses Objects which are inserted into posts and include Image Objects, HTML Text Objects, Button Objects, Spacer Objects and Horizontal Rule Objects. Each post can contain multiple objects which can be repositoned in the post by drag and drop in the Object Outline. Objects Can be inserted, edited or removed as users please. The Power Windows version also supports our new Video Objects!

File Downloading – My downloads are now integrated into this application.  All registered users are welcome to download files.

Direct admin emailing right from the forum. Choose a subject category and email us directly!

Multiple operating system support thanks to Adobe AIR (Windows, OSX & Linux).

Dedicated read only guest account so users can try the board before registering (Guest is a limited account and all posting, profile and avatar handling, emailing and other assorted functions are only available if registered).

Internet availability checking. The board reacts to connection changes.

More forums. The board will now support  Koolmoves and other topics (Adobe AIR, Flex, SWF Studio, etc).

Password Retrieval (Forgot password) .

Password changing . Don’t like the password we generated for you?  Then change it at will  :)

Maintenance mode detection and locking.

Inline post editing. All users can edit their own posts at any time. Your changes are immediate and require no refresh!

User defined panel coloring which is stored and reloaded for you (Color My World Version).

User defined panel transparencies which are stored and reloaded for you (Color My World Version).

User defined text coloring which is stored and reloaded for you (Color My World Version).

User defined backgrounds. Just drag and drop any image on it (Color My World Version).

Larger Avatars (75×75 instead of 50×50) .

Full screen ability without stretching or skewing .

Version Awareness – Each version knows which version a post was authored in and acts accordingly. Since Color My World as built first before Video Objects were introduced it does not support video objects. If you create a post in that version you can only edit it in that version. The Power Windows version was built specifically to support Video Objects and  is backward compatible and can edit posts from either version. If you edit a post you created in the Color My World version using the Power Windows version, you will only be able to edit it in Power Windows from then on once you save the changes.
